Make a better stand against Tumblr’s dumb decision.
Many of you may not know this, but Tumblr is owned by none other than Verizon. They are making this decision based on “safety”, but I am sure that we all know what drives most corporate decisions: money.
Now, Tumblr is in fact owned by Oath Inc. which is a subsidiary of Verizon. Verizon makes most of it’s profits through it’s wireless service, a whopping 21 billion USD in the second quarter of 2017. If we wanted to make a better stand against this decision, don’t just sign the petition. That petition only shows interest in the cause and the company isn’t legally obligated to do anything, no matter how many signatures the petition has.
Instead, what I am proposing is this. If you have Verizon cellular service and you really want to make a stand, change your service provider if you have the ability to. Verizon was a big supporter of net neutrality, and is now apparently against the base principals of their biggest platform that gives humans the ability to exercise free speech. If you take away their business, you take away their motivation and power.
Make a real stand.
Just switched to TMobile 🤷🏻♀️
